This week I'm excited to meet with M, she is a principal interaction designer at RH. She's going to talk to me about several projects that I could work on during my internship.
My meeting with M went well. It was exciting to look behind the curtain and hear about the practical UX things happening at RH. I learned about three projects; the Fedora IoT project, the Chris project, and Podman.
Fedora IoT is a Linux-based operating system for IoT devices. The project is more about web design than UX so it is not relevant to me.
The ChRIS Project is a collaboration between the Boston Children's Hospital, Harvard Medical School and RH. The ChRIS project uses cloud computing to make medical analytics run a lot easier and more efficiently. It's a health-related project so naturally, I'm interested but it's not completely managed by RH. So it may not be the best way to learn how UX is done in the Industry.
Podman is a Linux-based platform for working with container images.
I will be working with Podman which is connected with the ChRIS project.
Tools and Forums
I will be working with PenPot, this is the tool the PodMan project uses for UX design and collaboration.
I am keeping an eye on the Fedora design forum, this is how the team communicates and shares ideas.
What next?
My first assignment was to create this blog, to share my progress during my time at RH. My second assignment is to take a look at PodMan, to evaluate it and understand how it works.
